MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings, Inc. (President and CEO: Shinichiro Funabiki) has recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Nature Conservation Society of Japan (Chairman: Toshiyuki Tsuchiya). The purpose of this agreement is to share information and expertise on biodiversity and other related areas to enhance each organization's efforts towards realizing Nature-Positive future.
Through this agreement, our group aims to utilize shared knowledge to mitigate risks to biodiversity and reduce the risks associated with natural disasters.
The MS&AD Group will continue to contribute to the transition towards Net-Zero society and Nature-
Positive economy.

1. Background of the Agreement

The degradation of natural capital and the loss of biodiversity are significant risks to the realization of a sustainable society. Our group has prioritized symbiosis with the global environment as our material issue, focusing on promoting the nature-related financial disclosure, providing solutions and products related to natural capital, and enhancing the sustainability of natural capital.
The Nature Conservation Society of Japan (hereinafter NACS-J) aims to recover biodiversity and drive social change, dedicating efforts to activities such as halting the severe degradation of biodiversity and creating systems to protect regions where biodiversity is conserved.

2. Future Deployment

Under this agreement, we will share the expert information and knowledge of NACS-J, which conducts scientific research and analyses on the impact of corporate business activities on the natural environment nationwide. Our group will utilize the shared information in dialogues with customers and in the provision of products and services, thereby reducing the risks of biodiversity degradation and natural disasters. This will enhance the value provided by our group and contribute to the symbiosis with the global environment and the transition to a Nature-Positive economy*.
Our group refers to the concept of solving social issues by harnessing the power of nature while protecting biodiversity and mitigating damage from natural disasters as "Green Resilience." We will further promote Green Resilience initiatives through collaboration with NACS-J.

*The vision and roadmap to transition to an economy that conserves nature, as indicated in the "Transition Strategies toward Nature Positive Economy" published by the government in March 2024. Nature-Positive is a global goal agreed upon at major events such as the G7 Summit and the United Nations, aiming to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030.
